Neoenergia inaugurates new Transmission Asset Monitoring Center in Campinas
New space allows the addition of technology and innovation in the management of transmission assets
Neoenergia takes another step towards the future in asset management by inaugurating the Transmission Asset Monitoring Center (CMAT) in Campinas (SP). The new space consolidates the company's strategy of using technology and innovation to ensure operational efficiency, reliability and safety in the power transmission system.
The CMAT was designed to monitor the condition of critical transmission assets. The initiative makes it possible to anticipate possible failures, optimize asset interventions and increase the availability of transmission lines and substations, contributing to the continuity and quality of energy supply for millions of Brazilians.
“The CMAT is an example of how the company looks to the future, investing in technology and innovation. Counting on this type of tool is to guarantee more efficiency and robustness for transmission assets,” says Eduardo Capelastegui, CEO of Neoenergia. The executive attended the ceremony that marked the inauguration of the unit.
With operations in more than 6 thousand kilometers of transmission lines in 13 states, Neoenergia has invested heavily in digitalization and automation solutions. The CMAT integrates with this strategy, providing more agile and assertive decisions based on real-time information, aligned with the best global asset management practices
.
The Transmission Asset Monitoring Center represents a technological leap for Neoenergia and for the electricity sector. Through data intelligence and sensing, it is possible to predict possible failures, act in a preventive manner, and maintain the reliability of strategic assets.
“We are increasingly prepared to face the challenges of the energy transition, offering a more intelligent, resilient and sustainable system. The CMAT reflects Neoenergia's commitment to innovation, efficiency, and operational safety,” adds Fabiano Uchoas, Director of Operations and Projects.
In addition to ensuring the integrity of the assets and the reliability of the electrical system, the CMAT contributes to the company's sustainability and environmental governance objectives, by extending the useful life of the equipment and optimizing the use of resources. Neoenergia remains steadfast in its leadership journey in the modernization of the Brazilian electricity sector, focusing on technology, sustainability, and efficiency to generate value for customers, partners, and society.
Understand the difference between the COT and the CMAT
The COT (Transmission Operation Center) is responsible for the real-time operation of the electrical system. It guarantees the continuity of the energy supply (management of maneuvers, contingencies, and releases for maintenance), that is, its focus is to keep the grid energized, following the norms/procedures of the ONS (National Electrical System Operator), controlling the flows, tensions and stability of the system.
The CMAT, on the other hand, is responsible for the integrity and health of transmission assets. Its focus is on monitoring equipment, such as Synchronous Compensators, SVCs, transformers, and reactors, through sensing and data intelligence. Its purpose is to predict failures, perform predictive analysis, and recommend preventive maintenance to avoid operational problems.
