Termope is the first Neoenergia company to be certified in the Health and Safety of Work by AENOR

4/18/19

In April, Termopernambuco, fully controlled by the Neoenergia Group, received the certification of recommendation of the new Health and Safety at Work (ISO 45001: 2018) standard by the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification (AENOR).

Termope already had the certification in the operation and maintenance sector, meeting the standards of Quality (ISO-9001: 2015) and Environmental Management (ISO 14001: 2015) imposed by AENOR. With the new recognition, the whole electric power generation process of the thermoelectric plant is certified.

Created in 2018, ISO 45001 specifies the requirements for an occupational health and safety management (SSO) system and provides guidance for its use, enabling industries and organizations of all sizes to provide safe and healthy workplaces, preventing injuries and health problems among its employees.

The implementation of ISO 45001 will bring about some changes in thermoelectric operation, among them are the consultation and participation of own and third-party employees in the construction of a safe environment and the improvement of controls related to risks.

The change in the scope of certification, which previously covered only Operation and Maintenance, was one of Termope's main objectives for this year. Thus, Termope becomes the first unit of Neoenergia and Iberdrola Spain to be certified in ISO 45001.
