In one year, technology used by Neoenergia prevented 550 power interruptions in the Federal District

One of Neoenergia's commitments is to modernize and automate the electricity grid in the country's capital. The deployment of a technology, unprecedented in the Federal District, until the time the distributor took over the concession in March 2021, has helped to reduce power outages, in addition to reducing the time that Brazilians are left without electricity. Last year alone, the operation of the so-called self-healing scheme prevented approximately 550 interruptions, benefiting more than 1 million people. The self-healing technology is designed so that equipment called automatic retractors identify the defect and restore energy or transfer the client to another network, without human intervention and in seconds. “Some customers only notice the 'spike' once it is being reconnected or transferred to another circuit of the electrical grid without defects,” explains Antônio Carlos Queiroz, Technical Superintendent Director of Neoenergia Brasília. “Thus, fewer customers are affected during a network incident and the average interruption time is reduced, since the occurrence is resolved automatically, without the need for human interference”,

With an investment of over R$ 25 million directed to this technology, Neoenergia now has 352 automatic relocators in a self-healing scheme spread throughout the Federal District. This means that 27% of Brazilians - more than 300,000 homes and businesses or 1 million people - are already benefiting from technology. It is expected that 105 more equipment will be installed in 2024.
