11/30/20

Neoenergia was one of the highlights in the 8th Corresponsables da Iberoamérica Award, being recognized in Large Companies category with School of Electricians Project. The award is aimed at valuing the best initiatives and good practices of social responsibility, sustainability and communication in Ibero-America region, that comprises countries in which Portuguese and Spanish are the prevailing languages. The initiative, carried out by Fundación Corresponsables, has awarded 26 projects after 870 appointments from 14 countries.

Under Large Companies category, 205 projects were enrolled. Of this total, 19 were finalists, resulting in 4 winners. The other awarded companies, in addition to Neoenergia, were: Moderna Alimentos (Ecuador), Cálidda (peru) and Fundación Portaventura (Spain). Iberdrola Mexico, a company from the same controlling group as Neoenergia, was one of the finalists in the category, with Luces de Esperanza Project.

“The recognition reinforces the path we believe in to stimulate training and inclusion initiatives. We also offer classes only for women in this project, supporting their presence in an activity that is still deemed as proper for men, expanding the opportunity in labor market, in the constant pursuit for gender equality. Equality and diversity add value and initiatives like this have the potential of changing the world", tells Régia Barbosa, Neoenergia's Organizational Development Superintendent.

This year, Fundación Corresponsables introduced a new feature, with coronavirus category, in order to recognize the solidary efforts of the organizations for combating the pandemic. The parent company Iberdrola (Spain) was among the finalists in this category, for its responsible model for performance in view of the pandemic.

U.S. RECOGNITION

This is the second time that the Neoenergia School of Electricians gains recognition, both in November. The project, which provides classes only for women, had a case study published in WeEmpower, a UN Women program with the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the European Union aimed at encouraging good practices of the companies. The document points out the Brazilian company's project as a role model for one of the Women Empowerment Principles (WEP), i.e., promoting education and professional development for women.
