Neoenergia reports profit of R$ 815 million in the 2nd quarter of 2024

Profit increased 12% compared to 2Q23; EBITDA reached around R$ 3 billion in 2Q24; and Capex reached R$ 4.2 billion in 6M24 concentrated on networks

 

Neoenergia announced, this Tuesday (23), the financial results and operations for the second quarter and the cumulative period of 2024. The profit recorded in the second quarter was R$ 815 million, up 12% compared to the same period in 2023; and R$ 1.9 billion in the first half of the year, in line with the same period last year. EBITDA reached around R$ 3 billion in the second quarter and approximately R$ 6.5 billion in the first half, with a positive variation compared to the same periods of last year, of 12% and 3%,

respectively.

Capex

Neoenergia executed a Capex of R$ 4.2 billion in the first semester and of R$ 2.3 billion in the second quarter. Of the total accumulated investments for the year, R$ 2.4 billion was allocated to the continuous improvement of the energy supply to 16.5 million customers of the five utilities: Neoenergia Brasília (DF), Neoenergia Coelba (BA), Neoenergia Cosern (RN), Neoenergia Elektro (SP/MS) and Neoenergia Pernambuco (PE)

Transmission

In the second quarter, Neoenergia delivered the transmission lots in Itabapoana (auction December/2018) and Paraíso (auction June/2022), with the release of 100% of the permitted annual revenue (RAP). The period was also marked by the partial delivery of the Morro do Chapéu lot (auction December/2020) with the release of 47% of the RAP, and the Estreito lot (auction December/2021) with the release of 33% of the RAP. The broadcasting business made a profit of R$ 140 million in the second quarter and R$ 269 million in the first half of the year

Energy Balance

The total volume of energy injected, including distributed generation, was 21,389 gigawatt-hours (GWh) in the second quarter and 43,553 gigawatt-hours (GWh) in the first half, with a high compared to the same periods last year, 8.2% and 8.4%, respectively. The index was influenced by high temperatures and a growing customer base.

Customers

Compared to the second quarter of last year, there was an increase of 304,000 consumers, or around 1.9%, in the five dealerships , totaling 16.5 million active customers.

Quality

Regarding the quality of the power supply, the five distributors are below the regulatory limit for both the DEC (Equivalent Interruption Duration per Consumer) and the FEC (Equivalent Interruption Frequency per Consumer).
