Neoenergia and the government of Rio de Janeiro signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) this Tuesday for the development of studies that encourage the future execution of offshore wind power generation projects on the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
The signing took place during the Brazil Offshore Wind Summit 2024, which will take place until tomorrow (27), in Rio de Janeiro. This is already the fourth MoU signature carried out by Neoenergia for the development of offshore wind generation in the country. The company is also conducting studies to promote and evaluate the viability of offshore wind power in other states such as Rio Grande do Sul
and Ceará.

The executive attended the opening of the event this Tuesday.
In addition to Laura Porto, the signing ceremony included with the presence of Neoenergia's Director of Hydraulics and Offshore, Marcelo Lopes; and the Acting Secretary of Energy and Marine Economy of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Peixoto.
“ We are contributing to the promotion of the clean energy sector in the country with partnerships aimed at promoting new technologies to offer innovative solutions.
We are committed to encouraging studies for the development of offshore wind generation in the country, which, in the future, may expand the competitiveness of the source, with a gain in scale and technological development”, added Marcelo Lopes.
“ With the MoU, Rio de Janeiro will have the opportunity to access information about preliminary studies about the characteristics of the region. We believe that the partnership with Neoenergia, which is a pioneer in onshore wind generation in the country, will be of great value for the state to promote offshore wind in the future”, concluded the acting secretary Felipe Peixoto.
