Neoenergia, through Cosern, inaugurated this Monday (14), Jandaíra Electric Substation, in the Region of Mato Grande, amounting to 71 distribution centers of this profile in the whole state - in addition to three mobile substations. The inauguration happens on the day Cosern celebrates 59 years of foundation.

Upon starting up operation, the substation expands the energy supply to 50 thousand people in Rio Grande do Norte in the cities of Jandaíra, Caiçara do Norte and João Câmara, strengthening the electric system of an important region for the state's economy in the areas of agribusiness, industry and services. For Márcio Caires Vasconcelos, Cosern's CEO, Jandaíra substation inauguration stresses the concessionaire's commitment to the people living in the state in providing good services. “Celebrating Cosern's 59 years with the delivery of one more Substation is an additional evidence that the company has been keeping its investment levels, in spite of the adverse conditions, resulting in quality indicators for the energy supply consistently better in the entire State", says Márcio Caires.

From January to September, 2020, Neoenergia has invested R$ 250 million in Rio Grande do Norte in projects aimed at expanding the power grid, revamping of assets and network automation and digitalization, enhancing the system reliability throughout the state. Jandaíra Substation, in Mato Grande Grande Region, is served by a 69 kV transmission line, 45 km long, has four new feeders (medium-voltage circuits) and one transformer with installed capacity of 10/12,5 MVA, in addition to further high-tech equipment.

All 71 substations in the Cosern region spread throughout the state of Rio Grande do Norte are equipped with high-tech automation equipment that enables on-line operation and monitoring of the quality and continuity of energy supply, controlled by the Integrated Operation Center (COI), located in Natal, which manages the substations and the distribution network throughout the state.
