Neoenergia is committed to the development of professionals in the regions where it operates, always expanding job opportunities and promoting the enhancement of talents, besides enabling individual training. In the first quarter of 2021 alone, 695 new employees were hired, an increase of 271% when compared to the same period in 2020. Until March, the company had 13,471 active employees and over 25 thousand outsourced workers. The commitment to expanding opportunities makes it possible to generate income and maintain the national economy.
One of the highlights for the increasing number of job positions is related to the company's internalization program, a bet on hiring outsourced professionals who then become direct employees of the company. The project, developed since 2019, created several opportunities, mainly within the Distribution sector. Up to March 2021, 2,395 new employees were hired through the initiative, with at least more 742 job positions being opened by December 2022, only by means of the program.
The internalization includes Coelba (BA), Celpe (PE) and Cosern (RN). Elektro (SP/MS) already operates with a majority of its own employees, in multidisciplinary teams, covering all areas. The promoted change is reflected on gains in daily activities, with process optimization by means of training and engagement of employees. The project is phased-in, and was started three years ago with the hiring of 1.8 thousand employees who joined Coelba's and Celpe's standby service teams.
“We are a company committed to the development of people, we work in a collaborative way, and we have increased the number of job opportunities every year due to our growth and expansion", highlights Adriana Teixeira, Human Resources superintendent at Neoenergia.
The company has increasingly invested in the generation of clean energy. Considering the assets in operation and under construction, Neoenergia has a total of 44 wind farms,7 hydroelectric plants and 2 solar parks. In recent years, with the expansion of renewable sane businessprojects, more than 2,400 direct and indirect jobs have been generated.
School of Electricians: promoting professional training
To boost professional training in the concession areas of the company and offer job opportunities to residents of these states, Neoenergia created the School of Electricians, one of the initiatives of the internalization project. The action operates in four states – Bahia, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte and São Paulo. Exclusive classes were created for women at Coelba and Celpe, with the aim of promoting diversity and inclusion. Currently, the classes follow in the online format for the theoretical contents and face-to-face format for practical content, there are 38 classes in progress, and during 2021 will be, in all, 44 classes formed.
"Neoenergia believes in diversity and the promotion of gender equity in a previously predominantly male profession. The company is engaged in encouraging women to become electricians and the company currently has 161 women in the position, 88 of which are admitted between January and March this year. All with great performance and proving that we must follow this path",says Adriana Teixeira.
A case study on the initiative was published by WeEmpower, the UN Women's Programme with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the European Union to stimulate good business practices. The document points to the Brazilian company's project as a global example of one of the Principles of Women's Empowerment (WEPs), that of promoting education and professional development for women. The School of Electricians for Women is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with which the company is committed. The project encourages the company's partnership with Senai and the communities that assist in the selection and contact with the students.
