Neoenergia becomes a pioneer in obtaining

Authorization of the 450MHz frequency band in Brazil

Rio de Janeiro, April 10, 2024

Neoenergia is moving forward with the modernization of the electrical system in the concession area of its distributor in the Federal District (Neoenergia Brasília) with the implementation of the private LTE network. The project starts later this year and will be completed in 2024 with the installation of two radio base stations in the Taguatinga region. The technology will allow the expansion of intelligent electrical grids by releasing the 450MHz frequency band, bringing quality and innovation to more diverse environments

This initiative is part of the Godel Multilink R&D project, in partnership with the Research and Development Program regulated by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL).

LTE technology will reach new levels of connectivity and productivity in the electrical distribution area. With the approval of the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) for the use of the 450MHz frequency, Neoenergia becomes a pioneer in obtaining authorization in this frequency band in Brazil. The licensing of stations for radio use is authorized for a period of 15 years

The use of the new frequency was presented at the UTCAL Summit 2024, an event on telecommunications and automation technologies, which ends next Friday (12th) in Rio de Janeiro.

“The presence of this technology in our network promotes an improvement in the monitoring of all energy distribution. Private LTE networks offer a solid and secure communication infrastructure and at lower frequencies it is possible to achieve robust and reliable coverage, even in remote areas or with challenging signal conditions,” explains Ricardo Leite, superintendent of

In this way, Neoenergia guarantees greater reliability in the transmission of data from the smart grid project equipment to the Neoenergia Brasília Operations Center, with the objective of reinforcing the quality of service for all customers.
