Neoenergia debuts in B3’s Carbon Efficient Index

For the first time, Neoenergia has been included in B3's Carbon Efficient Index portfolio (ICO2), effective up to April 30, 2021. The new portfolio is the 11th and gathers together 62 shares of 58 companies operating in 22 industries, all of them being part of IBrX 100 – the holders of the 100 most traded shares in the Stock Exchange. The index is intended to encourage the debate of climate change in Brazil. 

Pioneer in energy transition in Brazil, the expansion of clean energy generation is a priority for Neoenergia. By 2022, the installed capacity of its wind farms will triple, reaching 1.6 GW and accounting for 90% of the group's production from renewable sources. Among the main projects for the next two years are the completion of the company's largest wind complexes in Brazil,  Chafariz (PB) and Oitis (BA e PI), and the kick-off of the  centralized solar generation, with the operation of Luzia photovoltaic plant (PB), with 149.3 MWdc power.

In addition, the company has been investing in areas such as  electric m​obility, with the acquisition of a feet of electric vehicles for administrative use and the implementation of the first electric road in Northeast, 1,100 km long, connecting Salvador (BA) to Natal (RN). In line with the global stance of its controlling shareholder, the Spanish group Iberdrola, Neoenergia is engaged with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

In addition, Neoenergia has been included, in January 2021,  in the 16th portfolio of  Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) of B3 – Brasil, Bolsa​​​, Balcão. The new portfolio gathers 46 shares of 39 companies in 15 industries, which, together, represent R$ 1.8 trillion in market cap. The companies included in the index represent those with the best practices in corporate sustainability, based on governance, transparency and social and environmental practices.​​
