Neoenergia donates 50 ventilators to public hospitals in Bahia, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte
The national public health system is about to receive a boost with the donation of 50 ventilators made by Neoenergia in hospitals from Bahia, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte. The delivery of the devices takes place between November 4 and 5, and originates from a partnership between the company and state hospital units. The goal is to ensure that the ventilators may contribute to the treatment of patients afflicted by respiratory diseases that affect the pulmonary system, such as Covid-19, pneumonia, among others.
“Neoenergia is concerned with the health and safety of the people, especially in the areas of operation. Although the donation of the ventilators is motivated by the pandemic, the initiative will benefit the public health structure as a whole. Modern ventilators are used both in treatment of coronavirus patients and for treating various respiratory diseases that require use of such equipment. Our goal is to contribute for a quality access to health care.”, says Mario Ruiz-Tagle, CEO of Neoenergia.
Overall, 50 ventilators will be donated by Neoenergia. The equipment units are of model IX5, manufactured nationally and produced by Intermed. Of the amount donated, 20 will be delivered by Coelba, company service provider that operates in Bahia. The equipment units will be installed in the Hospital Espanhol, a state-of-the-art institution for treatment of Covid-19 patients, located in Salvador.
In Pernambuco, where service provider Celpe operates, 10 ventilators will be provided to health units in Recife, while 5 equipment units will be sent to the Oswaldo Cruz University Hospital, of the University of Pernambuco (UPE) and another 5 units will be sent to the Committee for Administrative Support to the Military Police Health System of Pernambuco.
Meanwhile Cosern, at Rio Grande do Norte, will receive 20 devices: 5 to Doutor Tarcísio Maia Regional Hospital, located in Mossoró, 5 to Hospital Doutor João Machado and 10 to Hospital Doutora Giselda Trigueiro, both at capital city Natal.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN HOSPITALS AND HEALTH UNITS
The Neoenergia Distribution Companies have been carrying out several initiatives of the Energy Efficiency Program, regulated by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL), in hospitals and health care units that offer treatment to COVID-19 in the states of Bahia and Pernambuco. Actions include inspections and optimization of air conditioning, cooling and lighting of public buildings.
Thus, Bahia replaced over 5 thousand LED lamps and 150 cooling equipment, in addition to air conditioning devices - 16 chillers (water cooling systems), 72 split inverters (less energy consumption if it detects that the room requires less cooling) and 07 large splits (specific air conditioning units for large environments). Overall, 53 health care units were benefited in 24 municipalities, including Salvador.
In Pernambuco, 3,600 lamps were replaced, and 10 chillers, 19 window air conditioning devices and 50 coolers were installed. The amount of public institutions benefited reached up to five, among hospitals and management buildings of the Recife City Administration.
