Neoenergia completes energization of a second synchronous compensator at the Estreito Substation in Minas Gerais

Equipment aims to ensure reliable power transmission to the Southeast region and to control tension in the system of São Paulo, the largest state with energy consumption in the country

 

Neoenergia has just completed the energization of the second synchronous compensator at the Estreito Substation, in Minas Gerais, 19 months ahead of the deadline established in the contract signed with the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL). The equipment aims to provide greater reliability and operational flexibility in critical scenarios of high energy imports in the Southeast region, in addition to ensuring tension control in the São Paulo system, the state with the highest energy consumption in the

country.

By contributing to the safety of the electrical system in the states of Southeastern Brazil, the project expands opportunities for economic and social development in the region. The project was sold in Lot 4 of the 02/2021 auction. The concession contract, signed with ANEEL, provides, by Neoenergia, for the installation and operation of three synchronous compensators at the Estreito

Substation.

The synchronous compensator is already used by Neoenergia in other transmission projects and is used to make voltage and power adjustments within the Substation. In this way, it reinforces the stability and quality of the service in the National Interconnected System (SIN)
