CBF and Neoenergia initiative seeks to alert to a serious

A problem that affects about 245 women every day in our country

Rio de Janeiro, December 4, 2023

During the warm-up for the friendly match against Japan, held last Sunday (3) at the Morumbi Stadium in São Paulo (SP), the Brazilian national soccer team's players demonstrated support for the campaign to eliminate violence against women. On their shirts, the messages “Silence doesn't protect” were printed on the front and “Denounce. Turn on 180" on the back. The message was also present on the sign on which the athletes posed before the match.

The campaign was an initiative of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and Neoenergia, with the objective of alerting about 245 Brazilian women daily, who call number 180 - the national women's service center - for support.

We, at the CBF, strongly support demonstrations that promote women's rights and highlight the crucial importance of reporting any form of violence to specific channels. We believe that, together, we can build a safe and respectful environment for all women in sports and in society as a whole,” said the entity's president, Ednaldo Rodrigues.

Neoenergia believes that supporting women also involves the promotion of sports. For this reason, it has maintained its partnership with the CBF since 2021, when it became the first company in the country to exclusively sponsor the Brazilian Women's Soccer Team, in addition to supporting the national club competition, the Brasileirão Feminino Neoenergia. The company is a leader in the energy sector in supporting the sport and believes in sports as an agent of social change, one of the values shared with the Confederation.

"Through sports, women not only demonstrate their energy, but also raise their voices against violence. This initiative by Neoenergia, in partnership with the CBF, and led by the women's national team players, aims not only to raise awareness about violence against women, but also to promote gender equality,” concludes the marketing director of Neoenergia, Lorenzo Perales.

Firm commitment

The action with the players is part of a Neoenergia campaign in partnership with the CBF. Among other initiatives, the energy company and official sponsor of the Women's Principal Selection implemented a support process for its employees to report to the company that they suffer domestic violence. This includes legal and psychological advice for all your professionals. In addition, a message such as the one described on the athletes' t-shirts was posted on the energy bills of more than 37 million customers of the five Neoenergia distributors.

To strengthen engagement with the cause, Neoenergia invited 300 employees and customers to the stadium on Sunday (3), not only to support women's sports, but also to support the campaign's objective of bringing more visibility to the topic.
