Carnival 2024: Neoenergia takes preventive actions to guarantee a safe energy supply during the revelry

Distributors reinforce teams and network maintenance in concession areas,

including Northeastern cities where the biggest festivals in the country are held

Rio de Janeiro, January 25, 2024

Neoenergia's distributors are working hard to guarantee the supply of electricity with quality and safety during Carnival. The companies increased their teams and reinforced the maintenance of networks, in concession areas, especially in the Northeast, where two of the largest festivals in the country are located, in Bahia and Pernambuco

.

The special operation for Carnival 2024 is added to the ongoing maintenance actions already carried out annually. The distributors also have technological resources for inspections. Using thermal imagers, technicians are able to identify the temperature of each object in the electrical grid as they drive through the streets by car. Inside the vehicle, a technician uses a computer and two screens to view images of the place and hot spots. Everything is monitored and connected to the distributors' maintenance system. Thus, it is possible to generate a report to monitor the frequency of interventions

.

In addition to the routine actions carried out throughout the year, we carry out a special maintenance scheme for all regions, especially where there is a street carnival program. It is an intense job in which we reinforce the number of staff on duty and we have technology as an ally to act preventatively or reduce impacts in the event of an occurrence,” says Jader Carneiro, superintendent of Networks and Substations at Neoenergia.

In Bahia, Neoenergia Coelba additionally inspected approximately 11,000 kilometers of network and 16.8,000 pruning of vegetation close to network wires. The distribution company's operation also includes the maintenance of electrical grid equipment. Twenty-two automatic rectifiers were installed on the electrical grid. These technological resources are immediately activated whenever there is an interruption in the supply, isolating the defect and normalizing the supply within a few seconds. Throughout Carnival, teams will be reinforced and strategically positioned to respond to possible events.

Neoenergia Pernambuco will also see a 40% increase in the number of teams on duty 24 hours a day spread across the main centers of the state. The dealership's Integrated Operations Center will receive a 20% increase in the number of operators. The Operations Center operates in the capital city of Recife and monitors all the classes of electricians, inspectors, and engineers that are on the streets. Mobile substations will be available to, in case of emergency, be connected to the system and meet any needs. The distributor also carried out preventive actions, such as equipment maintenance, inspections of 3.3 thousand kilometers of network and 44.7 thousand pruning of vegetation along with electrical wiring.

In Rio Grande do Norte, Neoenergia Cosern carried out a series of thermographic inspections on the electrical grid that serves the state's main carnival centers. Poles, transformers, and cable heights were inspected on the avenues that become the main addresses of the revelry in Natal, Parnamirim, Caicó, Tibau

and Macau.
