Neoenergia joins the Brazil Without Misogyny campaign

10/26/23

Initiative of the Ministry of Women aims to mobilize society to address all forms of violence and discrimination against women

Rio de Janeiro (RJ), October 26, 2023

During the launch event of the #BrasilSemMisoginia campaign, on Wednesday (25/10), in Brasilia, Neoenergia stood out for being the first energy company to formally join the campaign and to present projects aimed at valuing and including women in mostly male professions. The objective of the initiative of the Ministry of Women is to propose a national mobilization of all Brazilian sectors - governments, companies, civil society, NGOs, social movements, among others - to confront misogyny - all forms of violence and discrimination against women.

The launch event was attended by the First Lady, Janja da Silva, state ministers, governors, and other authorities. In addition to Neoenergia, another 100 companies and social movements from various segments took the stage to sign the agreement to join the initiative.

Representing the leadership of Neoenergia, which today is comprised of around 420 women, the Superintendent of Institutional Relations, Juliana Pimentel, highlights the importance of large companies supporting this movement to change the present and the future. “It is the mission and responsibility of all of us, especially large companies, to commit to the cause and promote real actions to change this reality”.

Among Neoenergia's initiatives to support the cause, we highlight a very representative internal movement. In Brasilia, for example, there is an agreement with the Women's Secretariat of the Government of the Federal District for the development of actions with the company's employees. The entire group also highlights a program that offers psychological, financial, and safety support to employees who have been victims of domestic violence, in addition to training throughout the year that addresses the deconstruction of sexism, misogyny,

among other topics.

To support the appreciation of women in society and inclusion in the labor market, especially in mostly male professions, Neoenergia has the Electrician School project, which has already trained and hired more than 500 women. The initiative was pioneering in creating classes for women in order to promote diversity and inclusion, and is recognized as a global example of one of the Women's Empowerment Principles by WeEmpower, a UN Women program with the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the European Union, to encourage good business practices.
