Strength and joy that inspire

Learn the story of André, 32, son of Dona Edna, former pizza maker, wrestler, and electrician from Neoenergia Coelba.

Five years and six months ago, the story of André Luís Jesus Vieira, an electrician in the area of energy inspection and loss control at the Bahian distribution company in Salvador, became part of the history of Neoenergia Coelba. The second son of a family of four siblings, André, 32 years old, is the only one whose work is driven by energy. But he doesn't want it to stop there, no: his goal is to inspire and make the next — or the next — family member tell this story of connection with energy in their own way and as beautiful and passionate as his.
With a love story for the profession, André is much more than one of the symbolic collaborators of our organization - the electrician - he is also a character with a life story that serves as an inspiration.

Created only by his mother, a figure on which he focused, in addition to maternal obligations, fatherly obligations, André presents her as the reason for everything he is and does to this day. “She is a father and mother and everything I do is to help her,” the electrician proudly declares.

Perhaps that is where so much inspiration and strength come from that André shows, in addition to the wide smile that exudes joy, as we can see printed on the faces of Mrs. Edna and her son during the interview.
And those who see so much joy in these two can't imagine how strong they had to be. Three years ago, Mrs. Edna (59) was diagnosed with stomach cancer, and it was her son and daughter-in-law — Taíse, the great companion whom André made a point of fondly reminding during the story — that this mother found support to continue.

Dona Edna's treatment was complicated — two surgeries and eight chemotherapy sessions. She had to hold her ground. André already? Even more so. He had to assume the role of father of the family and be the patriarch that his mother, through the example, taught him to be; at work, he was never overwhelmed and was surprised by such strength. Today everything is fine and those who see Dona Edna can't even imagine the whole fight.

André's dream now? Continue to inspire. He, who started working at the age of 14 as a car washer together with his uncle, was a pizzaiolo, a general services operator, has already considered being a police officer, has already been approved in a competition and is now an electrician. He is an electrician at Neoenergia Coelba, where he says he is most proud to work. “For me, Neoenergia Coelba was a dream! I'm very happy here.”

What André may not know is that he is already an example. And that is clear in the speech of your co-workers. But who knows another member of the Jesus Alves family - perhaps little Railã, the one-year-old nephew with whom he also shares the house - isn't the next to be part of history with us?!

Keep inspiring, André. Because that's what truly moves you!
