Rio de Janeiro, March 28, 2024
Neoenergia releases the Fiscal Transparency Report 2023. In its third edition, the document voluntarily provides details of last year's tax contributions in the three tax collection bodies: federal government, states, and municipalities. Click here to access the full report.
In 2023, the total amount of taxes paid reached R$ 13.7 billion, 10.8% higher than in 2022. This amount represents three times the net profit recorded in the year (R$ 4.5 billion) and corresponds to 32.2% of net operating income, which totaled R$ 44.3 billion. In the last three years, these payments totaled R$ 39.1 billion, representing the company's contribution to the development
of society.
The taxes were distributed in two categories: own taxes, company expenses that directly impact its results, totaling almost R$ 1.3 billion; and taxes collected, in which the company acts as a tax collector, in the amount of about R$ 12.4 billion. The taxes collected at the operating sites constitute Neoenergia's main contribution to supporting public charges
.
“Responsible behavior, a pillar of our fiscal policy, is one of the essential components of our governance and sustainability system, inspired by the purpose of continuing to collaboratively build, every day, a more accessible and sustainable electric energy model. In this way, we seek to add value to our shareholders, employees and society in general,” says Eduardo Capelastegui, CEO
of Neoenergia.
Neoenergia's tax model has solid foundations in good fiscal governance, which requires responsible taxation, commitment to society in general, and transparency. Neoenergia's voluntary initiative was recognized by the Transparency Trophy, won for the third consecutive year by the National Association of Finance, Management and Accounting Executives (Anefac). The company is also recognized for having the Pro-Ethical Company seal, granted by the Federal Comptroller General (CGU) to companies that engage in the fight against corruption and strive to have
effective integrity programs.
