Olympic champion Ana Marcela is the new Neoenergia Ambassador
The greatest open water swimmer is the fourth athlete to join the Neoenergia Team, which focuses on supporting Brazilian women's sports
First Brazilian woman to win Olympic gold in open water, Ana Marcela Cunha from Bahia wants the two-time championship at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. To fulfill this dream, the athlete now has another important partnership that will help her to raise the quality of her preparation for competitions in France. The athlete has just joined the Neoenergia Team whose focus is on promoting gender equity and boosting women's sports in Brazil.
“The partnership with Neoenergia reinforces two important connections in my career. The first of these is with Bahia, my place of origin and where the company is present. Here, I started my career and my passion for swimming was born. The sea is a source of energy and inspires me daily to overcome challenges. The second is with sustainability, a value that I share with the company. I am sure that this new partnership will be fundamental to improve my training in the final stretch of qualifying for the Olympics.” , said Ana Marcela Cunha, gold medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, held in 2021.
The choice of the athlete was also due to her connection with brand values, such as sustainable development. The water marathon runner is a representative of the Sea Defense Council of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) and Sustainability Ambassador of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), focusing on cleaning and depolluting seas and rivers.
“We want to provide Ana Marcela with the necessary energy to shine even more in competitions. Our new ambassador is an example for other young women to pursue a career in sports. Our goal is to empower more female athletes to win Olympic podiums and world championships, bringing energy and inspiration to young Brazilian women,” says Lorenzo Perales, Marketing Director of Neoenergia.
Ana Marcela is 31 years old and is a native of Salvador, Bahia, a state where Neoenergia, through its distributor Neoenergia Coelba, serves more than 6 million customers. The most recent achievement was last year with the silver medal at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. Considered the greatest open-water swimmer of all time, she also collects 14 other world medals, including seven gold medals.
Neoenergia is currently recognized as the company in the electrical sector that most encourages women's sports in Brazil. With the arrival of Ana Marcela Cunha, the Neoenergia Team now has four athletes. The others are: the Brazilian road cycling and time trial champion, Ana Vitória Magalhães, Tota; the four-time world kitesurfer champion, Bruna Kajiya; and the two-time South American champion in the 3,000 meters with obstacles in the Under-23,
Mirelle Leite.
In addition to encouraging the inclusion of women in national sports, the sponsorships reaffirm the strengthening and humanization of the brand in the country, especially in its concession areas with the distributors Neoenergia Pernambuco (PE), Neoenergia Cosern (RN), Neoenergia Elektro (SP/MS) and Neoenergia Brasília ( DF). Neoenergia also has a contract with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to sponsor the Brazilian Women's Soccer Teams, both the main and the youth teams, and the Neoenergia Women's Brasileirão.
