Environmental education

Environment that connects.

Immersed in the universe of private companies, communicologist, graphic designer, and marketing and social media specialist Samile Leal had a concern: how to overcome her desire to contribute to social initiatives if the jobs she was going through didn't allow her to do so?

That's when, in 2013, he started to divide his time between employment with a formal contract and freelance work. The following year, he came across social projects in the poorest region of the Pituaçu neighborhood, in Salvador. Help came naturally: Samile combined his knowledge with his ideal. She started managing social networks and developing graphic pieces and websites voluntarily.

Between 2015 and 2016, maternity encouraged her to prioritize the self-employment model. It was the opportunity to dive even deeper into the volunteering she had always dreamed of. Thus, it was included in the Independent Movement Collective, through the project 'Pituaçu in the Affective Network', a network of producers and artists from the neighborhood's culture to promote this culture and enhance the residents' sense of belonging.

Today, the Collective has been active with activities in parks in the capital of Bahia. And aren't they already reaping fruit? They won a public call in 2019. Art, culture, environment, society, preservation, and respect for nature are topics that involve the project and its actions.

And it doesn't stop there. Samile promises progress for 2020: “we want to develop the 'Parks in Connection' project with something more concrete, with environmental education workshops based on activities that bring the public space to nature belonging to the residents of Salvador”. To this end, the designer wants to add innovative knowledge and greater organization by attracting companies that believe in the same causes as her.

But her ideal doesn't stop her from asking questions. “Seeing myself as a social entrepreneur is a daily challenge.” Samile asks: do we need to have a fixed salary? Do we need to be in a convenient bubble for society? For her, doing social practices is what most encourages her. Everything makes sense now.

Sharing transforms lives and, to that end, the communicologist asks that people not forget our essence and what makes us human beings.
